Ed Ralston
AMPWDA Trainer
Ed's professional career as a police/fire dispatcher and reserve police officer for the City of Angola began in 1980. During his career he had the chance to witness first-hand how valuable a trained canine can be. His first bloodhound named Beau fostered his interest in the breed. Realizing how smart and trainable bloodhounds are, he started his training with Indiana Search and Response Team. Further noting a need in the community for search dogs, he continued on for certification of his third bloodhound, Sampson achieving level 2 mantrailing and urban certifications with AMPWDA. Sampson continued his work before succumbing to cancer. The current bloodhound, Bergy and Ed have achieved level 3 tracking and trailing certification with AMPWDA. Ed and Bergy continue to respond to call-outs in search of lost children and elderly while assisting the cadaver and live-find dogs as backup.
